Benylin Cold & Flu Day & Night Max Capsules contain an analgesic and decongestant which help relieve cold and flu symptoms.
This includes easing headaches, aches and pains, sore throats, reducing fevers and helping to unblock airways. They also help with fatigue and drowsiness so that you can get on with your day.
Benylin Cold & Flu Day & Night Max Strength Capsules are used for the relief of symptoms associated with colds and flu, including aches and pains, sore throat, headache, blocked nose and fever.
The Day capsules can also relieve tiredness and drowsiness.
The Night capsules contain paracetamol, an analgesic and antipyretic which helps to relieve pain and fever, and phenylephrine hydrochloride, which is a decongestant to reduce swelling in the passages of the nose to help you breathe more easily.
The Day capsules contain paracetamol and phenylephrine hydrochloride (as above) but also contain caffeine, which provides relief from fatigue (tiredness) associated with colds and flu. Caffeine can also increase pain relief from paracetamol
How it works:
Paracetamol helps bring down a fever and reduce aches and pains and headaches, while phenylephrine, a decongestant, helps reduce swelling in the passages of the nose so you can breathe more easily.
Added caffeine helps combat drowsiness, allowing you to carry on with your day

How to Use
- Swallow the tablets whole with water.
- Do not chew.
Dosage: Adults and children 16 years and over: 2 tablets every 4-6 hours, as required.
Do not take more than 8 tablets (4 doses) in any 24 hour period. Do not exceed the stated dose.
Not suitable for children under 16 years.
If your symptoms persist or worsen, you must see a doctor or pharmacist

This medicine is suitable for most people but a few people should not use it. If you are in any doubt, talk to your doctor or pharmacist
Do not use this medicine…
■ If you have ever had a bad reaction to any of the ingredients.
■ If you have severe heart disease or cardiovascular disorder(s).
■ If you have high blood pressure.
■ If you have an overactive thyroid gland.
■ If you have an enlarged prostate.
■ If you have a history of stomach ulcers.
■ If you are taking, or have taken in the last two weeks, drugs for depression known as Monoamine Oxidase Inhibitors (MAOIs).
■ If you are taking any other medicines containing paracetamol. If any of these apply to you, get advice from a doctor or pharmacist without using Benylin Cold & Flu Day & Night Max Strength Capsules.
Talk to your doctor or pharmacist…
■ If you have liver or kidney problems. ■ If you are taking alcohol.
■ If you have a blood circulation problem (including Raynaud’s Phenomenon).
■ If you suffer from diabetes.
■ If you are taking any other medicines, including:
■ anticholinergic drugs e.g.: tricyclic antidepressants (drugs used to treat mood disorders).
■ barbiturates (a kind of sleeping tablet).
■ sympathomimetic drugs (stimulants or appetite suppressants and drugs used to
treat congestion and asthma).
■ antihypertensives (drugs used to treat high blood pressure such as beta blockers or vasodilators).
■ colestyramine (used to lower blood cholesterol).
■ metoclopramide or domperidone (used to treat nausea and vomiting).
■ anticoagulants (drugs used to thin the blood, such as warfarin).
If you are not sure about any of the medicines you are taking, show the bottle or pack to your pharmacist.

Side Effects
Benylin Cold & Flu Day & Night Max Strength Capsules can have side-effects, like
all medicines, although these don’t affect everyone and are usually mild.
If you experience any of the following, stop using the medicine and talk to
your doctor:
■Allergic reactions such as skin rash.
■ Raised blood pressure with headache,
vomiting and palpitations.
■ An increase or decrease in heart rate.
■There have been rare reports of blood disorders although these were not necessarily related to paracetamol.
Other effects which may occur include:
■ Nausea.
■ Difficulty sleeping.
■ Tingling and coolness of the skin.
Very rare cases of serious skin reactions have been reported.
Side effects with unknown frequency:
Problems or pain passing urine. This is more likely to occur in men with an enlarged prostate gland.

Each capsule contains Paracetamol 500 mg, Caffeine 25 mg and Phenylephrine Hydrochloride 6.1 mg.
