Aldactone 25mg Tablets – Spironolactone 25mg, 20 Tablets

Aldactone 25mg Tablets is used to treat high blood pressure, oedema (swelling), heart failure, and kidney problems. It works by causing you to pass more urine, which helps to remove excess fluid from your body. This can help to reduce the swelling and inconvenience caused by conditions like oedema and heart failure. Aldactone also helps to improve survival in people who have had a recent heart attack.

If you have been prescribed Aldactone, it is important that you take it regularly as directed by your doctor. You should take Aldactone exactly as directed, and you should not stop taking it suddenly unless your doctor tells you to do so.

Aldactone tablets are available in three strengths – 25mg, 50mg, and 100mg. The usual starting dose is one 25mg tablet daily, but this may be increased or decreased depending on your individual situation. Your doctor will discuss with you the best dose for you to take based on your condition and other factors such as your weight, age, kidney function, etc.

Aldactone tablets should be swallow whole with a glass of water. They can be taken with or without food. If you find that Aldactone upsets your stomach when taken on an empty stomach, you can try taking it with food or milk.

If you miss a dose of Aldactone, just take the next dose as normal at the usual time. Do not take two doses together to make up for a forgotten dose.

If you have any questions about taking Aldactone or if you are unsure about anything else related to your treatment, please speak to your doctor or pharmacist for further advice.

You can also take Aldactone for the following illnesses:

• ‘Nephrotic syndrome’ – a kidney disorder that causes too much fluid in your body
• ‘Ascites’ – too much fluid in your abdomen and ‘oedema’ – accumulation of fluid beneath skin or in one or more cavities of the body that produces swelling, for example, caused by cirrhosis of the liver
• ‘Malignant ascites’- fluid containing cancer cells that collect in the abdomen
• ‘Primary aldosteronism’ – extra fluid in your body caused by too much of a hormone called ‘aldosterone’.
If you have these illnesses, Aldactone will help your body to get rid of the extra fluid. You must talk to a doctor if you do not feel better or if you feel worse.
Children should only be treated under the guidance of a paediatric specialist.

What is heart failure?

Heart failure is a condition in which the heart cannot pump blood around your body properly. This usually occurs because it has become too weak or stiff, making it difficult for you to get enough oxygen-rich red blood cells delivered into organs and tissues where they are needed most!

It’s sometimes called congestive heart failure, although this name is not widely used nowadays.

Heart failure does not mean your heart has stopped working. It just needs some support to help it work better.

It can occur at any age, but is most common in older people.

Heart failure is a long-term condition that tends to get gradually worse over time.

It cannot usually be cured, but the symptoms can often be controlled for many years.
